Letter from the Department Head, Division Chair of Emergency Medicine
It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Division of Emergency Medicine website.
Emergency Medicine is an academic division within the Department of Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. As a Department within the two hospital organizations, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care, the emergency medicine team provides care within the Children’s Hospital Emergency Department, the University Hospital and Victoria Hospital Emergency Departments and at St. Joseph’s Urgent Care.
As you interact with our website, enjoy reviewing the breadth of knowledge, skills and expertise within our Division. Within our faculty, areas of interest and expertise include Point of Care Ultrasound, Simulation, Addictions, Medical Education and Prehospital Medicine. The Pediatric faculty offer additional specialized training in Pediatric POCUS, Pediatric Trauma, Quality Improvement and simulation. Canadian and International trainees are welcome.
Our research team enhances the body of research, knowledge and dissemination of emergency medicine across Canada. Dr. Naveen Poonai, a leading researcher in Pediatric Emergency Medicine continues to produce research that directly enhances practice and patient outcomes. There is great opportunity to become involved and contribute to the research body of work within the Division.
Graduates of our two residency programs, the Royal College Emergency Medicine program and the CCFP(EM) program are highly skilled and well-rounded upon completion of their programs. Graduates of our fellowship programs in POCUS and Pre-hospital medicine are highly trained.
